Kano State Police Uncover Bomb in Vehicle near Mosque (Photos)

The Kano State Police Command has uncovered a bomb laden vehicle, parked very close to a mosque by suspected terrorists. The explosives were planted in a white Peugeot 406 car at about 1.am on Sunday which the terrorists would have detonated during the Eid prayers attended by thousands of worshipers.
Speaking to reporters at the Bompai Police Command Headquarters on Sunday in Kano, the State Commissioner of Police, Adenrele Shinaba said

”The vehicle you are seeing here is a white Peugeot 406 car, which was primed with high calibre Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and was parked strategically at a spot, an area where there is going to be a very heavy crowd this morning for the Eid prayers .

Their motive is to blow up as many Muslim faithful as possible but to God be the glory,

we were able to move round and examined the vehicle, screened it properly and discovered that there are explosives in it. So my anti-bomb squad swiftly moved to the area where they quickly detonated it by 1: am and moved the vehicle out of the scene to the Police Headquarters.

We thank God we have been able to save a lot of lives as a result of this discovery. The location of the primed vehicle is close to the Isyaku Rabiu Jumat mosque. The explosive is of high calibre and it was a big one that was primed in the vehicle. This information came through a responsible Kano indigene.”
