Kano Govt Shuts Factory Over Death of 3 Workers in One Week



The Kano 
State Government on Thursday  in Kano closed down the factory of KANOSAN Ltd over the death of three workers in its treatment plant in the last one week   .The company was shut on the orders of the state’s Industrial Waste Committee Mobile Court after the incident.
The committee said it ordered 
the closure because the management of the factory had been careless with the live of its workers.
The closure was jointly announced by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Tourism, Dr Abubakar Daburam and his counterpart at the Ministry of Environment, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.
 Damburam also expressed the condolence of the state government over the incident and prayed to the Almighty God to grant the families of the deceased, the fortitude to bear the loss.
According to the commissioner, the closure of the company was the outcome of an investigation conducted by a committee set up by the state government to check the issue.
He said that part of the mandate of the committee headed by the Director of Pollution Control of the Ministry of Environment was to meet with the families of the deceased.
The committee was also asked to find out what the company had done to secure the future of the families.
The commissioner, however, charged all the existing factories in the state to adhere strictly to all laws safeguarding the lives of their workers, the environment of their immediate communities and the state at large. -
