Police arrests suspected killer of Enugu monarch



The Police in Enugu State have arrested one of the principal suspects in the murder of a traditional ruler, HRH Moses Ugwu, Ode 1 of Umuode.
The suspect, Ejike Mba of Oruku in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, and his gang members, who are still at large, have been on the run since September 9, 2012.
They allegedly murdered the monarch in his provision store at about 7.40 pm and took to their heels.
Confirming the arrest to DailyPost in Enugu on Tuesday, the spokesman of the police in the state, Ebere Amaraizu disclosed that the “suspect, who is about 26 years of age is a kingpin involved in the murder of the monarch.
“He has been at large with his gangs after the commission of the murder; following a manhunt against him and his gang by the eagle eyed operatives of the special Anti Robbery Squad, (S.A.R.S) Enugu, information emerged about where he attended a function and concealed his presence in Oruku, also in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State.
“The operatives acting swiftly, nabbed him. He is now helping the operatives in their investigations and will be charged to court after police investigations, just as manhunt on the fleeing members of the gang has been intensified”
