SEE Why This Barber Is Sentenced To Death by Hanging


A barber, Stephen Amamife Adim has been sentenced to death by hanging by a Delta State High Court sitting at Ogwashi-Uku over his involvement in a robbery attack.
Stephen, a member of a four-man robbery gang was arraigned on a three-count of conspiracy to commit robbery and two counts of robbery.
The accused who confessed in his statement that his gang robbed a filling station, pharmaceutical shop and several residents was found guilty on two counts and sentenced to death by hanging.
The court said: “The law provides a mandatory sentence on the charges and the court does not have the powers to mitigate the sentence. The sentence of the court upon you is that you be hanged on the neck until you be dead, may God have mercy on your soul.”
Meanwhile the prosecution told the court that the convict, with others at large, including Emeka John Nzedunor, who escaped from prison, on December 7, 2010, at Ogwashi-Uku, robbed Chidibere Christian Orji of one phone, a gold necklace belonging to his wife and N46,000.
That the accused and his gang who acted like they where looking for a herbal mixture pointed a gun at the pharmacist and his workers, ordered them to lie down and surrender their money, phones and other valuables.
