Unijos Promotes 16 Lecturers to Professors



The University of Jos has promoted 16 academic staff of the university to the rank of professors.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Steve Otowo, Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications of the institution in Jos on Friday.
According to the statement, 15 other lecturers are promoted as readers.
The statement stated that the promotions followed a meeting of the university’s Appointments and Promotions Committee (Senior Staff) which considered and approved the promotions.
Those elevated to professors are Dr Uwemedimo Iweketok, English Department; Dr Ukwa Eke, Languages and Linguistics; Dr Tor Iorapuu, Theatre Arts; Dr  Rahila Gowon, Arts and Social Science Education.
Others are: Dr Mangut Mankilik, Science and Technology Education; Dr Yohanna Izam, Building; Dr Abdulrafi Omotoso, Religious Studies; Dr Sule Zoomsen and Dr Icha Onche, Department of Surgery.
The others are Dr Lohya Nimzing, Medical Microbiology; Dr Emmanuel Agaba and Dr  Edith Okeke of Department of Medicine; Dr Fidelia Bode-Thomas, Paediatrics; Dr Sunday Salami, Chemistry; Dr Georgina Samuel Mwansat and Dr O.O. Ajayi, Zoology.
Those elevated to readers are: Dr Nesther Alu, English Department; Dr Emily Alemika, Public Law; Dr Felicia Agbo, Science and Technology Education; Dr Michael Misauno,  Surgery Department; and Dr Solomon Ugoya, Medicine and Radiology.
Others are: Dr David Yakubu, Zoology; Dr Elizabeth Nyager, Theatre and Film Arts; Dr Joseph Mangut, Archeology; Dr Ikoni Ogaji, Dr Sunday Otimenyin and Dr Noel Wannang,  Department of Pharmaceutical Technology.
The others are: Dr Godwin Echejoh and Dr Joseph Emmanuel, Pathology/Haematology; Dr Barnabas Kwaha and Dr D.D. Bakwa, Physics Department.
